For the three interviews I chose for this assignment, I
learned that not everyone realizes they have a need for something. Aside from
not knowing of an unmet need; the process varies for each individual and their
background. What I mean by that is – some consumers buy on a whim and others
may not search a single thing but only buy a product because it is a needed
item. The last interview I had was the most insightful when it came to product
crossover, the interviewee explained afterward, that it turns her away from
products. It sounded like she also did not like false advertising when say a
cereal box has an ad on the front for an action movie, which looks like there
is something within the box, when after purchasing the box there is nothing regarding
that movie inside. Everyone has unmet needs everyday (take for example
Starbucks daily goers!) that may not think of it as an unmet need until they go
a day without their coffee! Unmet needs range from small to extremely large
purchases and can often be subconscious in purchasing.
So what I have learned from this class already is that, there is no opportunity to small. In your case I believe you have struck an immediate need to a solution that many people didn't know existed. With some divine innovation and technology I believe that this could honestly make a huge difference and an all around safer driving experience. I personally am hearing impaired and would benefit directly from this product. I have had a few instances where I wasn't aware of a emergency vehicle rapidly approaching and was terrified when I realized they were right behind me.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comments, Ryan. I would have never expected that you are hearing impaired, especially from your Elevator Pitch assignment. Your speech is perfect and it is great to know that someone could directly benefit from this product!
DeleteHi Isabella,
ReplyDeleteOne of the goals of effective marketing is to help consumers become aware of their unmet needs and then buy the product. I think that there are many uses for your idea beyond the specific market of hearing impaired drivers. It will be interesting to see what strategies will work to grow your product sales.
Hello Isabella,
ReplyDeleteI feel like you gathered a lot of information for your opportunity from your interviews. I think your product can make a very good impact not only in one market. It can definitely cross over to other areas of someones lifestyle.
Hi Isabella. I agree that sometimes people don't know they need something until they are made aware of it's existence or it is presented in a memorable way. You have a fantastic product, and one that is evolving over time to become useful and relevant to more and more people. Keep up the great work.
ReplyDeleteHey Isabella, I think you have a really great product. I really liked all your interviews and all the questions you were asking to get the information. I think your product will be very useful. I think your product will make a huge difference and give everyone a better driving experience. I know I'm not aware always of emergency vehicles and I am not hearing impaired.
ReplyDeleteHello Isabella!
ReplyDeleteI think you did a good job interviewing. I agree with many of the points your third interviewee made. I personally, don't buy an item if its been advertised by a celebrity. I think that if a product has to be endorsed by a celebrity then it is probably not worth the hype, especially since it could not have become that popular on its own.

Isabella,
ReplyDeleteYour interviews seemed to be very insightful. That’s interesting that the last person you interviewed did not approve of product crossover. I never saw anything wrong with it but I can see now how product crossover could be false advertising. It is true that some people don’t even realize they have an unmet need and it is interesting how this class is teaching us to identify unmet needs in our lives and the lives of consumers.
Hi Isabella - I think your product sounds great! I personally cannot relate to this product but if i did have a hearing problem i would most definitely think that this is a very important even required thing to have in your car if i was hearing impaired. I think your interviews gave you a lot of insight on how to develop your concept further. Great job!
