During this round of interviews, I had a really nice
spectrum of buyers and their reactions. These were all college students that I
passed throughout the week that let me interview them. Danielle and I had a
common bond when it came to only purchasing when needed. The mentality of the
other two were a little more lenient with spending. Most often they pay with
cards, knowing the money is in their account, because it seems now days no one
runs with cash! Most folks also tend to do their purchasing online and it shows
up on their doorstep some odd days later. I would conclude these interviews as
a giant question mark. Most of us do not stop and think about our purchasing
habits and can explain them to a stranger. It showed me that money is different
for every individual and if one truly wants a product, no matter the cost, they
will buy it.
I think you have thought of a really interesting idea, but I also think it could be expanding upon and adapted in various ways. If someone is driving, they might not feel the vibration of the steering wheel. Sometimes, you run over different items in the road or the road is uneven, this can cause the steering wheel to shake. This might confuse the person who has this product in their car. Additionally, when the brakes are not aligned on someone’s car, this can cause the steering wheel to shake when braking. So maybe having a light go off in the car combined with the vibrating steering wheel can help. Great idea!
ReplyDeleteIsabella, you have developed your idea really well over the last few weeks and it's awesome to see where you've taken it. Overall, I think it could make such a huge impact and become a device regularly installed in vehicles. From this round of interviews, I can tell that you've grown a lot in how well you conduct them and in improving the questions you ask. As of the material in your interviews, I found the same kinds of answers from the people I asked about buying behavior. Cash is something that not very many people carry around anymore, and digital transactions or cards are far and away the primary ways of paying. Like you said, online shopping has become such a huge hit in the last few years once people realized they could get things delivered right to their front door within a couple days. I will say I'm very guilty of over using my Amazon Prime account, but at the same time trends like these are really helpful for entrepreneurs like us who are trying to figure out the best ways to reach our target market. Good job!
ReplyDeleteHello Isabella, after listening to your interviews and reading your reflection, I can clearly tell that you have a firm understanding and belief in your idea. This is super cool, and I look forward to seeing more.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you when you say that if someone wants something no matter the cost they will buy it. If a customer sees a want as a need, they will be more willing to buy it at any price because they feel that they no longer just want it, rather they think they need it. If you can convince a customer that a want is a need then you will have an even better time selling to them.
ReplyDeleteThis is a spot on post, you have nailed it. Demand remains the main driver of any economic system. People may not have the means to purchase what they desire, but they will sometimes trade existing items to get it or save to get it. However as sure as the day is long people will buy what the want. Excellent post. The mission should remain finding the way to make your product needed by everyone.
ReplyDeleteIsabella, I think that your interviews were successful in determining buyer behavior and identifying catalysts for product interest and demand. I myself do not carry around cash, but I also do not make many purchases online either. Majority of my purchases are made in person and I certainly think that is wholly due to the success of advertising and marketing tactics. I hadn't realized the true power behind these branding platforms until listening to your interviews with other customers, and listening to their answers from your questions and perspective. Wonderful job!
ReplyDeleteHello Isabella, I completely agree with you. If someone really wants something, they'll find a way to buy it. Usually if I buy something to replace the item that I actually want, I end up buying the one I want more too. So I spend more money. I think if I carried cash, I would be more conscious of my purchases because I would be more of aware of my dwindling funds
ReplyDeleteHi Isabella,
ReplyDeleteI think your interviews did a great job showing how different people use money to pay for things and how that is actively changing and how much people rely on online shopping. I think that both of these ideas show that if people want something enough they will find a way to buy it even if they don't have the means to buy it. Great analysis of this!
Hi Isabella - great job on your interviews. I also agree with you that if someone really wants something they will find a way to have the money to purchase it. I rarely have cash on me and always pay with my credit. I sometimes do wish I carried more cash though because I feel that I am more aware of how much money I am actually spending. I think you were able to really determine the buyers behavior with these interviews. Great job!
